Born into an Italian tailor family in Aix-en-Provence, Emanuelle Ungaro was able to find his freedom over thirty years.

In 1968 he produced his first Prêt-à-Porter collection, Parallèle and started a boutique at 2, avenue Montaigne in Paris. During the next 30 years, the Emanuel Ungaro House expanded to consist of boutiques and licensing agreements wide-reaching.

Ungaro opened his first menswear collection, Ungaro Uomo, in 1973, and his first perfume, Diva, 10 years later in 1983. Later followed the perfumes Senso (1987), Ungaro (1991) and Emanuel Ungaro For Men (1991).

In 1996, he got together with Salvatore Ferragamo forming a lasting partnership. In 1997, Emanuelle Ungaro, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bulgari created a new company: Emanuelle Ungaro Parfums. The new perfumes that came out were Fleur de Diva (1997), Desnuda (2001) and Apparition (2004).

Fleur De Diva is a flowery, fresh fragrance, possessing notes of fresh flowers. It is recommended for office wear.

Desnuda creates a modern, sexy new fragrance which combines sparkling fruity, floral-oriental essences. All in all, it has a great smell and is very cheap, great value. It is best when used daily tpo get the full floral taste.

Apparition for Women was the third fragrance from Ungaro in 20 years. This sexy, flirty aroma is a concert of raspberry, pepper, rose, patchouli. Apperition is also recommended for daytime wear.

Apparition Homme is a sharp and refined fragrance for the man who has a sense of impeccable style a refreshing, woody fragrance. Fragrance notes are Mandarin, Anise, Rhubarb, Green Tea Leaves, Black pepper, Licorice Wood, and Vetiver.

In 2005 the brand Emanuelle Ungaro was sold to Pakistan-born internet tycoon, Asim Abdullah head of Global Asset Capital Investment Bank. At the time, the entire wholesale revenue of products sold under the Ungaro label through licensing deals was in the order of € 70 million.

In December 2007, Esteban Cortazar was appointed as head designer.

In 2008, Avon and Emanuelle Ungaro collaborated in launching a new duo of fragrances, U by Ungaro for Her and U by Ungaro for Him. The scents were fronted by actress Reese Witherspoon.

Avon U by Ungaro For Her was developed by perfumers Jean Marc Chaillan and Loc Dong, and the “fresh, woody floral” includes notes of bergamot blossom, freesia, pepper blossom, acacia aura, lotus flower, osmanthus, iris, sandalwood and musk.

Avon U by Ungaro For Him was developed by Yves Cassar and Pascal Gaurin, and the “woody aromatic watery blend” features green mandarin leaf, ruby red grapefruit, pomegranate, immortelle, cardamom, cedar leaf, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean and Peru balsam.
